The TALES you probably never heard about

THE OPENING OF McCUAIG HALL

[People’s Press, 16 January 1912]

  Reverend Finlay McCuaig

The opening of the new Presbyterian church addition (Welland) took place on Sunday. The handsome new chapel, which is to be known henceforth as McCuaig Hall in honor of its late Pastor McCuaig, was well filled at both morning and evening services.

Rev. J.C. Robertson, M.A., of Toronto, Secretary of the Presbyterian Sabbath Schools of Canada, delivered the sermon at the morning service on Sabbath school work. In the evening he again spoke, choosing for his text “Suffer the Little Children to Come Unto Me.”

During the worship the new church addition was dedicated McCuaig Hall by a special service.

Mr. Robertson pronounces the hall to be one of the finest school rooms he has seen for speaking purposes, its acoustic properties being perfect. No trace of an echo is heard while a person is speaking.

During the services Mrs. Heslop sang a solo and Misses Edington and Hoover favored the congregation with a duet. These with anthems sung by the choir added an extra charm to the sacred service.
