FREDERICK GEORGE HUTTON

DEATH REMOVES F.G. HUTTON

Former Welland Sanitary Inspector and Veterinarian Was In 70th Year

[The Welland-Port Colborne Evening Tribune, 4 April 1938]

Welland sanitary inspector for five years previous to his registration, due to ill health last year, and also holder of that office for a number of years about a quarter of a century ago. Dr. Frederick G. Hutton, 69, passed away at his home, 58 Division street, yesterday. He had been in ill health for a period of four years but had been able to go about his duties until seven weeks ago.

In addition to being a veterinarian, Dr. Hutton was recognized as an authority on agricultural matters, having made a study of scientific farming. He operated a farm on River road as a hobby from 1910 until forced to give it up several years ago on account of his health. He took particular interest in registered grain and pure-bred Yorkshire hogs.

His position as a veterinarian brought him into contact with farmers from all parts of Welland county, and he did much for the advancement of agriculture in the country.

Dr. Hutton was born in Caister township, and was the son of William and Rachel Hutton of St. Catharines where he received his early education. He graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College and practiced in Welland since that time, a full half century. He was a past president of the Ontario Veterinary Association and also held other offices in the organization.

Left to mourn are his widow, Mrs. Sarah (Gaiser) Hutton; a daughter, Miss Laura Hutton; a sister, Miss Mary Hutton of St. Catharines.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the late residence and interment will be at Fonthill cemetery.

Died: 3 April 1938
