The TALES you probably never heard about

PATRICK DALTON

[Welland Tribune, 19 August 1875]

A melancholy case of drowning occurred at Port Robinson on Monday last. Mr. Patrick Dalton, a  young man about 24 years of age, employed on one of Mr. Brown’s dredges, while at work on a scow, lost his balance and fell into the water and was drowned before assistance could reach him. The body was recovered about half an hour afterwards. An inquest was held on the body of deceased by Dr. Kennedy, coroner of Welland, when a verdict of accidental drowning was returned. The deceased belonged to the town of Welland, where his relatives reside, who have the sympathy of many in their affliction. He was well thought of as a steady and industrious young man. Deceased was buried in the R.C. burying ground, Welland, today (Wednesday).
