I grew up in Welland born in 1943. I remember a lot of the things that were remembered on this website. The one thing that I wanted to know does anyone remember the name of the shoe store that was on the corner across from the Tribune.
I remember the old People’s store across the way from the Majestic Restaurant. I worked there part time way back in the sixties.

    Hello

The shoe store was Harry Holcombs located across from the Tribune on East Main. (232 Main East. ) The Tribune was located at 228 Main East.

If you would like to share some of your memories, our readers would really appreciate that. B

Hi, My grandfather owned the majestic back in the old days…wondering if you worked for him…Bill Tallis…although I think he was there before the 60′s. Any info would be appreciated.

After the store was Harry Holcombs, it changed ownership and we knew it as “Ernie’s Shoes”. My mother bought most of my shoes there w hen I was a kid and I think Ernie used to work there when it was Harry Holcombs. This would have been in the early/late 60s
