SALEM [Welland Tribune December 3, 1943]

Salem, Dec. 3-Leading Stoker E.B. McPherson, R.C.N.V.R, Halifax, is spending his leave with his wife and family.

The many friends of Mrs Janet Chambers, who suffered a stroke three weeks ago, will be sorry to hear that she has not improved. She was taken to the Welland county General hospital last Friday.

Mr and Mrs George Metler and family were dinner guests of the latter’s parents, Mr and Mrs Amos Robbins and family.

Miss Catherine Hipwell spent Sunday with Miss Shirley Strawn.

Misses Elsie Stirtzinger, Marie Farr, V. Gent and June and Shirley Strawn were guests of the C.G.I.T girls of Fenwick United church.

Mr and Mrs Ernest Brown and family were guests of Mr and Mrs Ewart Haywood and son Leroy on Sunday.

Mrs Johnson, who has been  visiting her sister, Mrs A Brown, has returned to her home.

Mr and Mrs C.E. Strawn visited with Mr and Mrs Blake Ostrosser on Tuesday evening

Salem United church, W.A. and W.M.S. will hold their December meeting at the home of Mrs Harold Gent on December 8th.
