BOYLE [Welland Tribune January 10, 1945]

Boyle, Jan. 10-Mr and Mrs Arnold Reid of Wainfleet, Mr and Mrs Stuart Hill, son, Charles, and Miss Lelia Hill of Welland and Mr and Mrs Clifford C.Hill and son Gordon of Fenwick were guests of their parents , Mr and Mrs James Hill on Christmas Day.

Mr Hoffman of St Catharines spent the weekend and Christmas Day with his son-in-law and daughter Mr and Mrs George Henderson.

Rev. G.J. Comfort, Mrs Comfort and son John of Dunnville and Mr and Mrs Paul A, Comfort, sons George and David and daughter Elizabeth were guests of the  former’s nephew and niece, Mr and Mrs Marvin Fulson, and Mrs Nellie Fulson at Smithville o Christmas Day.

Mr and Mrs Clyde Robins of Fenwick spent Christmas Day with Mr and Mrs Roy E, Oveholt.

Andrew McKeachie spent the weekend and Christmas Day with his mother, Mrs Clara McKeachie, and sisters, Jennie, Stella, Doris and Helen McKeachie at Toronto.

Mr and Mrs Chares Freure, son Gerald and daughter Joan of Wellandport, Mr and Mrs Harry Gracey of Niagara Falls and Miss Hazel Beamer of Niagara-on-the-Lake were Christmas Day guests of their parents, Mr and Mrs Thomas Freure.

Gnr. Kenneth Gracey of the east coast is spending a leave with his parents, Mr and Mrs Everett Gracey.

Helen Jamieson is confined to her home with chicken pox.

Mrs Lillian Prentice spent a couple of days this week at Toronto.
Relatives from Tillsonburg spent the holiday weekend with Mr and Mrs George Henderson and sons, Hazen, Calvin and Mervin.

Mrs L. Longbottom is visiting her son and daughter-in-law, Cpl Eric Longbottom, Mrs Longbottom and sons at St Thomas.

Mr and Mrs Edmund Beamer, sons Norman and AC1, Vernon Beamer, stationed at Fingal, Mrs Beamer of Welland, Mr and Mrs Burton Stirtzinger, Mr and Mrs Gordon Stirtzinger of St Catharines and Mr and Mrs Amos Beamer and son Wray were guests of Mr and Mrs Cecil Beamer at Fonthill, when they entertained at a family dinner on Christmas Day.

Mr and Mrs Kenneth S. Overholt of Fork’s road, East and Mr and Mrs Leonard E. Cocks and son Ralph of Fenwick spent Christmas Day with the latter’s brother-in-law and sister, Mr and Mrs Wm. J. Anderson and their father, John Hill.

Mr and Mrs George Wilson spent the weekend with the latter’s brother-in-law and sister, Mr and Mrs Clifford Gee.

Cpl Alfred Williams, who just returned from overseas, spent Tuesday with friends at Humberstone.

Mr and Mrs Murray B. Misener and Mrs Roy Overholt spent Saturday at Welland.

Mr and Mrs Clifford Lane and children of Silverdale were Christmas Day guests of the latter’s parents, Mr and Mrs Cyrus Misener.

Mr and Mrs Amos Beamer, son Wray,  and Mrs Wm. J. Anderson spent Saturday in Welland.

Friends of Cameron Hill will be glad to learn he able to be about again after his recent illness.

Mr and Mrs George Henderson spent Friday at St Catharines.

Mr and Mrs Clarence Gracey of Grimsby were recent guests of the latters brother and sister-in-law, Mr and Mrs Judson Jamieson and mother, Mrs Phoebe Heaslip.

Frank H. Anderson of Gaspe, Que., spent a Christmas leave with his wife and son Merritt, at their home at Grimsby.
Mr and Mrs Judson Jamieson spent Saturday at Welland.

Emery Gee, his grandson, Cpl Alfred E. Williams, and John Hill attended the funeral of the late Bruce Vanderburg, which was held from the Lampman funeral home, Wellandport on Wednesday.

Mr and Mrs Frank H. Anderson and son Merritt, of Grimsby were Sunday guests of their cousins, Mr and Mrs Earl Joslin, at Smithville.

John Hill Called on his brother-in-law and sister, Mr and Mrs Cameron Reece, and Mr and Mrs Charles Gee at Wellandport, recently.

Mrs Annetta Anderson of Jarvis spent Christmas Day with her son and daughter-in-law, Mr and Mrs Frank H. Anderson at Grimsby

William Overholt of Chicago has been the guest of his brother and sister-in-law, Mr and Mrs Roy Overholt, and Mr and Mrs Clarence Garner and family at Silverdale, also Mrs Eliza Overholt.

The sideroads in this vicinity have been blocked for over four weeks. S.S. No 5 is still closed, no mail delivery or bread. The farmers are hauling their milk to the main highways with horses and  sleighs.

Mr and Mrs Clifford Gee and daughters entertained at a family dinner on Christmas Day.
