IT’S SPRINGTIME
It’s good to see the trees start to bud in early May
Because it’s then we know summer is on its way
In this area we are about three weeks behind
But to see green grass gives me a happy state of mind
After all the cold weather of ice and snow
It’s nice to be able to have some place to go
People plant flowers which will start to bloom
Some now in May but others in the month of June
I’ll plant a garden to have good food to eat
It sure is a good way to get the grocery bill beat
And it’s nice each day to see the blue sky
But it disappears quickly when the clouds roll by
The lawn mower is started as the grass grows quick
If it isn’t cut often it will get real thick
Whenever we go out to take a wander around
Heavy clothes on our body sure won’t be found
Its good once again to see farmers working their fields
And I know they are hoping for another good yield
The traffic on the roads will be heavier each day
As folks go to the cottage or go travelling farther away
Wood is hauled in cut and piled up to dry
And should be dry for winter after a few months go by
Museums and other places will be open for people to see
Yes folks will visit once again including you and me
Snowmobiles are put away until later in the year
It’s boats and ATVS we now have around here
Motorcycles are out and bicycles will be too
So may you get some cycling or walking it’s good for you
Sideroads are dried up there is no mud anywhere
So we can go where we wish without a worry or a care
You’ll hear wild geese honking up there in the sky
But it won’t be long until they go south saying goodbye
The trilliums are blooming in the bush as they always do
And there are millions of leeks so may you get a few
Beaches will be crowded and bonfires will glow
So may there be no accidents or other sorrow or woe
