Boyle, Nov 6-Mrs Sidney Heaslip returned home on Wednesday from a trip up north. She visited her daughter and son-in-law, Mr and Mrs S. Taylor and family at Bar River, also relatives and friends at Echo Bay, and their son and daughter-in-law, Mr and Mrs Oliver McWatters and family at Sault Ste Marie, also Rev and Mrs C. Dyer and family at New Toronto.
Mrs Ethel Howell has returned to the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Mr and Mrs Edward Barry at Hamilton after visiting her parents, Mr and Mrs Emery Gee.
Mr and Mrs William Graham of Highway 20 were recent guests of Mr and Mrs Chester Lambert and family.
Mr and Mrs Bill Sunday of Dunnville spent Sunday with the latter’s parents, Mr and Mrs Isaac Graham and son Alex.
Mrs Roy Overholt and Mrs Wm J, Anderson spent Wednesday with Mrs Amos Beamer and son Wray. The afternoon was spent sewing for the Red Cross.
Mrs Oren Tice of Bismark is spending a few days with her mother, Mrs Tillie Robbins.
Mr and Mrs Wm J, Anderson spent Sunday with Mr and Mrs Leonard Cocks at Smithville.
William Schwoob R.C.A.F. and Mrs Schwoob and son Gordon and daughter Joyce of Hagersville were recents guests of the former’s parents, Mr and Mrs Joseph Schwoob.
Mrs Clarence Burmaster and sons Wayne and Brian of New Toronto are visiting the former’s mother Mrs Sidney Heaslip and Mr Heaslip.
Mr and Mrs Charles Gee of Wellandport were recent guests of the former’s parents, Mr and Mrs Emery Gee.
The pupils and their teacher Miss Helen Swick of S.S. No. 8 held a delightful Hallowe’en party on Friday afternoon.
Saturday guests of Mr and Mrs L.E. Cocks included the former’s parents, Philip Cocks of the R.C.A.F. and Mrs Cocks of Dartsmouth. Miss Grace Cocks of Dunnville, Mr and Mrs Thomas Holt of St Anns, Mrs Clarence Burmaster and sons Wayne and Brian of New Toronto and Mr and Mrs Sidney Heaslip.
Mrs Wm J. Anderson called on her cousin, Mrs Charles Gee at Wellandport on Friday.
Mr and Mrs Erford Robinson and son Edwin and daughter Elizabeth and Mrs Alvin Rogemoser, all of Tonawanda, N.Y, spent Sunday with their sister and brother-in-law Mr and Mrs William Heaslip and family.
Mrs Henry Schwoob and three children of St Anns spent Wednesday with their uncle and aunt Mr and Mrs Joseph Schwoob.
Wray Beamer has returned to school after spending last week at his home convalescing from a tonsil operation.
A number of local residents attended the special anniversary services at Wellandport Presbyterian church on Sunday when Arthur Hannahson and a choir from St Catharines furnished special music. Rev J. Ferguson, the pastor delivered the message.

Boyle, Nov 7-A number of ladies of Bethel United church were entertained at the home of Mrs Roy Overholt on Tuesday afternoon in aid of the Red Cross Society.
The afternoon was spent quilting and two quilts were completed. The material for the one was donated by Mrs Overholt and Mrs Heaslip donated the batting. The other one was donated by Mrs Amos Beamer. A dainty lunch was served by the hostess assisted by Mrs Chester Lambert.
Mrs Sarah Immel and her granddaughter, Miss I Gilmore of Welland called on Mr and Mrs William Cutler on Sunday.
Mrs Ernie Boyes of highway 20 and Mrs Robert Schwoob and daughter June of Wellandport spent Tuesday with their parents, Mr and Mrs Emerson Horton.
Mr and Mrs Murray Winger of Wainfleet spent Monday with the formers parents Mr and Mrs Marshall Winger.
Relatives from Beamsville spent a few days with Mr and Mrs Clarence Beam and son Larry.
Mrs Earl Bossert and daughter Anna and sons Paul and Ralph of Buffalo spent Wednesday with the former’s sister and brother-in-law Mr and Mrs Paul Comfort.

Miss Verna Winger of Highway 20 is spending a few days with Mr and Mrs Fred Traver and family at Wellandport. Miss Winger is convalescing following an appendix operation at the Welland County General hospital.

Mrs John Hainer has been quite ill the past week.
The Horton homestead-the oldest landmark on the Canboro road-has been vacated, and is now fast falling into decay.
A great deal of good was done during the camp-meeting here. There were five converts immersed in the Chippawa river as a result.
Mrs C. Horton of Welland, during one of her canvassing tours through this place, spent a very pleasant day at the “Terrace.” the beautiful home of Mr and Mrs Geo Jackson.
When Mr Jackson’s house is completed he will have one of the most pleasant places in the neighborhood.

Boyle Jan 10-Elmer Coyne spent New Year’s Day at the home of his brother and sister-in-law, Mr and Mrs Harry Coyne of Bismark.
Rev George Comfort and son John of Dunnville called on Mr and Mrs Paul Comfort last Thursday.
Mr and Mrs Nellis Heaslip, Mr and Mrs Judson Jamieson and daughter Helen, Mr and Mrs Wm Cutler, Mr and Mrs Wm Heaslip and daughter Jean and son Billy were recent visitors at the home of Mr and Mrs Emerson Cosby of Bismark.
New Year’s Day visitors at the home of John Hill were Mr and Mrs Wm Schwoob of Fenwick, Mr and Mrs Sidney Heaslip and Peter, Mr and Mrs Wm Anderson and Leonard Cocks.
Gordon Schwoob of Fenwick spent a few days last week at the home of his grandparents, Mr and Mrs Joseph Schwoob.

The funeral of the late Mrs Dillie Catharine Beamer, widow of the late Albe Beamer was held on Sunday afternoon, December 13th. From her late residence here, with a wide circle of relatives and friends and neighbours attending. Deceased who was of a kind and loving character will be sadly missed in her home and community where her influence was felt. She was a daughter of the late Ezra Gee and Margaret Ecker and was born 78 years ago in the township of Gainsboro where she spent her entire lifetime. Although she has not enjoyed good health for a number of years, death came as a shock to everyone.
She leaves to mourn her demise two daughters, Mrs Burton Stirtzinger (Nellie) of St Catharines and Mrs Elwin Coon (Ethel) of Tintern also three sons Edmund Beamer of Welland, Amos of this community and Cecil of Fonthill also 6 grandsons, Vernon and Norman Beamer of Welland, Gordon Stirtzinger of St Catharines, Wray Beamer of this community and Lloyd and Ralph Beamer of Fonthill, also 1 brother Emery Gee of Gainsboro township. She was predeceased by her husband, Albe Beamer in October 1918, also two sons Silas Beamer and Wesley Beamer, also one brother and four sisters.
The service was conducted at the home and graveside by Rev, H.S. Fiddes. The male quartette comprising Robert McPherson, Herbert Dawdy, Adelbert Piper and George Southwick sang two appropriate numbers. The floral tributes were beautiful showing the high esteem in which deceased was held. The casket bearers were three grandsons, Vernon Beamer, Norman Beamer. Gordon Stirtzinger and three nephews, Everett Gracey, Charles Gee and Clifford Gee. The flower bearers were Thomas Freure, Roy Overholt, Chester Lambert, William Heaslip, Herbert Gracey and Wm J. Anderson.
Interment took place in the family plot at Lane’s cemetery.
Among those from a distance attending the funeral were Mr and Mrs Burton Stirtzinger and son Gordon of St Catharines, Mr and Mrs Elwin Coon of Tintern, Mr and Mrs Edmund Beamer and sons Norman and Vernon, Miss Wiley, Mr and Mrs William Dilts, Mrs Fred Schooly and daughters Aletha and Lois, Mrs Michener, all of Welland, Mr and Mrs Norman Williams and Mr and Mrs Cecil Beamer and sons Lloyd and Ralph of Fonthill and Mrs Ethel Howell of Hamilton.

James Ebeling of the armed forces at Kingston spent the weekend with his wife Mrs Ebeling at the home of her parents Mr and Mrs Cyrus Misener.
Mr and Mrs Leonard E. Cocks of Fenwick spent Monday at Grimsby. They also called on the latter’s sister, Mrs Wm J. Anderson.
Mr and Mrs William Cutler spent Thurs at Welland.
Mr and Mrs Clifford Lane and family of Silverdale spent Sunday with the latter’s parents, Mr and Mrs Cyrus Misener.

Mr and Mrs Edward Wainwright of Kenmore N.Y. were recent guests of relatives here.
The young people’s group of Bethel United church met at the parsonage on Tuesday evening with the vice-president Miss Alice Neff in charge. Mrs H.S. Fiddes led in prayer. The scripture lesson was lead by Miss Neff and the devotional talk on Missions was given by Mrs Fiddes. The responsive scripture reading was led by Miss Neff. Miss Edith Williams invited the group to meet at the home of her grandparents. Mr and Mrs Emery Gee on Tuesday evening, October twenty-seven for a hallowe’en masquerade party.

Mrs Edgar Heise and son Lloyd of Markham were recent guests of the former’s sister and brother-in-law, Mr and Mrs Wray Vanderburg and daughter Marian.

John Tait, who is stationed with the Navy arrived home from Montreal on Friday to spend Christmas with his wife and children, Patricia and Bobby.

A little son of Ezra McPherson has had three abscesses on his arm; the little fellow has been a keen sufferer.
Dr. Birdsall, while driving out to Candasville, on Friday, came near having a serious accident. One of his horses took a fit and chased the Doctor. However, nothing serious happened as the horse soon came to its right senses. The supposed cause was over-feeding.

Shower given for Newlyweds
Boyle, March 11-A miscellaneous shower was held at the home of Mr and Mrs John Horne on Friday evening in honor of their son-in-law and daughter, Mr and Mrs Bill McPherson (Jean Horne) a recent bride and groom. Progressive crokinole was played and prizes were awarded to Bill McPherson, William E. Heaslip, Mrs James Ebeling and Mike Kazar. Many useful gifts were received by the happy couple and the bride expressed their thanks to their friends. The rooms were tastefully decorated with pink and white streamers and the bride’s and bridesmaid’s bouquets were beautiful in their vases.
Refreshments were served by Mrs Horne assisted by her daughter Lillian, Mrs Gordon J. Robins, Mrs Cyrus Misener and Mrs W.J. Anderson.
The shower was arranged by the member of the Women’s Association of Bethel United church.

Mr A Wiley is rebuilding his residence, Messrs, Swayze and Gladman having the contract.
A very sad death took place at the home of Mr and Mrs Cyrus Robbins when their oldest son Ross, passed away last Sunday morning. He was a bright and lovable little fellow, and will be greatly missed. Death was due to scarlet fever. Other members of the same family have the dread malady, and the whole community extends its deepest sympathy to the bereaved father and mother.
